Counted from your entry-stamp date if your visa carries a registration endorsement (employment and dependant visas usually do). Other long-stay visa holders must register before completing 180 days (June 2026 amendment); when in doubt, treat 14 days as your deadline. Late filing draws tiered fines (from ~₹10,000); non-registration or overstay is a criminal offence under the Immigration & Foreigners Act 2025, up to 3 years' imprisonment and/or a ₹3,00,000 fine, plus blacklisting.
